Strategic Study of CAE 2012, Volume 14, Issue 11,   Pages 88-93

Abstract:

Aiming at the characteristic of the formation water of Huaqing Chang 6 reservoir and taking the comprehensive foaming ability as evaluation index, 6 foaming agents were optimized. ZY-1 foaming agent was the optimal foaming agent, and the optimal foaming agent concentration and foam stabilizer concentration were 0.5 % and 764 mg/L respectively. On the basis of the foaming agent optimization result, using parallel cores with approximate permeability contrast,CO2 foam flooding experiment was simulated through 2 injection way. The experiment result showed that underground foaming way, CO2 and the foaming agent injected alternately, had higher plugging differential pressure and better displacement efficiency. The optimal injection slug combination was first 0.2 PV (pore volume) foaming agent solution and then 0.4 PV CO2 gas, and the total injected volume was 0.6 PV.

Christine C. Nguyen, Cody N. Hugie, Molly L. Kile, Tala Navab-Daneshmand

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2019, Volume 13, Issue 3, doi: 10.1007/s11783-019-1129-0

Abstract:

Heavy metals can act as co-selecting agents and promote antibiotic resistance.

Most frequent resistances to heavy metals are observed for zinc and cadmium.

P. aeruginosa and E. coli are commonly resistant to heavy metals and antibiotics.

Heavy metals proliferate antibiotic resistance through co- and cross-resistance.

Heavy metal and antibiotic resistances are common near anthropogenic activities.

Technology Development and Engineering Practice for Protection and Utilization of Water Resources in Coal Mining in Western China

Da-zhao Gu

Frontiers of Engineering Management 2016, Volume 3, Issue 1,   Pages 59-66 doi: 10.15302/J-FEM-2016010

Abstract: Shanxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, and Gansu (hereafter generally referred as “the Western Area”) are major coal-producing areas in China due to rich coal resources and good mining conditions. However, the Western Area has a serious water shortage. The surface evaporation is huge and a great amount of mine water generated in coal mining is evaporated and lost after discharging to surface. In order to protect and utilize the water resources during large-scale coal mining in the Western Area, Shenhua Group has put forward a technological idea to store mine water in underground mined areas and successfully researched and developed the coal mine underground reservoir technology by solving the technical difficulties of water source prediction, reservoir site selection, reservoir capacity design, dam construction, safety guarantee, water quality control and so on through 20 years of exploration. Now Shenhua Group has successfully established a batch of reservoir in the Shendong Mining Area, obtaining great economic and social benefits. The technology is also extended to other western mining areas, providing an effective path for harmonic mining of coal and water resources in western China.

An experimental study on plunging depth of density currents

Hassan GOLEIJ, Amir Hamzeh HAGHIABI, Abbas PARSAIE

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2017, Volume 11, Issue 4,   Pages 388-395 doi: 10.1007/s11709-017-0417-7

Abstract: Mass density of the current flows is the one of the important problem in the hydraulics of the dam reservoir. Plunge point occurs when the mass density current penetrates in the stagnant fluid. Recognition the place of this point is very important because of clearing the boundary of the density current flow and ambient fluid. In this study the influences of bed slope and hydraulic parameters on plunging depth were experimentally investigated. The results show that the slope has a minor effect on the plunging depth. The height of plunging depth is increased by increasing the density of the current flow. Also increasing the densimetric Froude number caused of decreasing the plunging depth. Finally an equation was proposed to estimate the plunging depth using as function of flow characteristics.
